Selling FAQ
How do I start selling?
Sign up as a seller and create your Seller Account. From there, you’ll submit a packing list and send your beauty to us — we’ll guide you through each step.
Are there any fees?
There are no fees to sell with Second Skin. We earn a commission once your beauty sells, which is taken from the final sale price. The only costs you’ll need to cover are getting your products to us and return shipping for any products sent back to you.
How do I get my beauty to you?
You can get your beauty to us in a few different ways:
- Drop it off during our drop-off hours in Grey Lynn, Auckland
- Send it by courier, organised by you
- Purchase a Selling Kit from us
How long does processing take?
After we have received your products, it can take up to 10 business days to assess, process and list them on your behalf.
When they have been listed online, you will receive an email from us letting you know to log into your Seller Account and view them.
Are my details confidential?
Yes. Your personal details are kept private and are never shared with buyers. Second Skin is the face of the sale. We handle all customer interactions on your behalf.
I live outside of New Zealand. Can I sell with you?
Share details about your shipping policies, item returns, or customer service.
What are the Terms of Selling?
Our full and up-to-date Terms of Selling can be found here.
Is there a minimum requirement?
No, there’s no minimum. You’re welcome to sell just one special product or as many as you’d like.
Resale Criteria FAQs
What happens to unlisted or unsold products?
If a product isn’t suitable for resale or doesn’t sell within its selling period, you’re welcome to have it returned to you either by pick-up or via courier (return courier fee of $8 applies).
Please note: We offer a 10-day collection window. If we don’t hear from you within this time, products will be considered unclaimed and will no longer be eligible for return. This will be managed through your Seller Account.
How can I tell if my product is expired?
As a general guide for unopened products, if you purchased the product within the last:
- 6–12 months — it will usually have enough shelf life remaining for a next owner
- 12–24 months — it may still be suitable, depending on the brand and formulation
- 24–30 months — it may still be suitable, depending on the brand and formulation, but will be discounted due to shorter remaining shelf life
- 30+ months — it will likely have passed its expiry and won’t be suitable for resale
What condition does my beauty need to be in?
Products must be authentic, undamaged, and properly stored, with plenty of shelf life remaining. Original packaging isn’t required (though it’s always helpful), and products can be accepted without the box.
Do you accept opened or lightly used products?
Yes - some lightly used products may be accepted if they meet our Beauty Resale Criteria.
Certain product types can’t be resold once opened or used (such as lipsticks, mascaras, and open-jar products), so each product is assessed individually before being accepted for resale.
